THE lawyers at the centre of injunctions
used by celebrities to protect their dirty
secrets have been revealed.
Top barristers Richard Spearman and Hugh
Tomlinson are coining it in as they regularly play
off against each other
in court.
Spearman and Tomlinson
have been used in highprofi
le cases like The Stig’s
battle with the BBC.
However, we can reveal
that they have also argued
on behalf of stars for the
right to tell their stories.
Media lawyer Mark
Stephens said: “These two
appear in all the cases,
pretty much.

“There are no new arguments
produced in court,
it’s the same people making
the same arguments in
the cosy closed shop we
have at the moment.
“They have appeared on
both sides in court.”
Mr Spearman, once
named Mr Privacy by an
industry magazine, represented
hooker Helen Wood.
She claimed she had a
threesome with Wayne
Rooney, 25, and Jenny
Thompson, 22, while wife
Coleen, 25, was pregnant.
And Helen, 24, was keen
to tell all about another of
her clients, a famous actor,
but Mr Tomlinson fought
for her to be gagged.
The pair were also on
opposing sides in the case
of a footballer as he battled
a newspaper. They also
clashed before Ben Collins,
36, revealed he was Top
Gear’s The Stig.
